Nothing Phone 3a vs 3a Pro Specs: Hidden Difference & Software Update: Nothing just launched two new smartphones, the Nothing Phone 3a and Nothing Phone 3a Pro. Now there’s a price gap of 7,000 rupees between both the device. Nothing Phone 3a price 24,999 rupees and Nothing Phone 3a Pro price 31,999 rupees.

So you must wondering, what’s the difference between the two, which one makes more sense and which one you should you buy?

Design

First of all, in terms of design there’s lot that has changed from last year. the first thing you’ll notice is that the back pattern of coils is now changed. earlier, there was some symmetry to it but now it’s as random as my midnight thought, it’s there but what’s the point.

Once you look past that there but what’s the point. once you look past that you’ll notice that the camera module has changed too. Nothing 3a looks like an extended camera module from Nothing Phone 2a with one more camera in it, but Nothing Phone 3a Pro is just pure flex.

Weight & Build Quality

These new phones are slightly bigger and slightly thinner but a lot heavier, then tast time. now there two reasons for it, first the glass back which is good as it’s more scratch resistant than plastic and second, the added camera lenses.

Which is also good beacuase we are not talking about 2MP here, these are some real lenses. the in hand feel is also good, especially for 3a but the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, it’s pretty much like the X200 pro.

You do feel the weight distribution to be massed up beacuase of the heavier camera module but ” as you use the device on a regular basis you get adjusted to it and you don’t mode it anywhere”.

A part from that, the frame is still plastic but the phone offers a slightly better dust protection. there’s now a new button as well, which by the way is not a camera control button.

Overall, like the subtitle design changes that nothing has done in these phones but the transparency and lights are kind of losing their essence.

Display

Display, it’s slightly bigger 6.77 inch 120Hz AMOLED pannel on both the phones with 3000 nits of peak brightness. when compared to phones phone 2a, not a lot has changed. it’s the same display resolution same bezels, only the brightness has been bumped up.

The display protection is also changed from Gorilla Glass 5 to Panda Glass. which is not exactly an upgrade see, I don’t mind subtitle display change in Nothing Phone 3a beacuase they are not increasing the price. Nothing Phone 3a Pro, they should have at least given 1.5K display or may be LTPO or both.

Now even though the display didn’t change much, the multimedia experience definitely got better.

Speaker

Speaker, the speaker on both the phones are now louder and fuller compared to Nothing Phone 2a, which is nice.

Performance

Processor, both the phones are powered by the same “Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Processor” with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 Storage.

Specs & Compare

Specs, the specs don’t sound impressive with snapdragon 7s Gen 3, UFS 2.2 storage but if you compare it with last year’s phone, it’s definitely an upgrade.

The same time, if you compare it with same segment phones. it just doesn’t stand out, for Nothing Phone 3a, 7s Gen 3 is still fine but for 3a Pro, I think nothing should have given a more powerful processor because the competing phones are just way too a head.

It’s not just the performance, there’s one more limitation ot the processor. which I’ll talk in the camera section in day to day usage, both the phones breeze through everything, be it while regular usages, multitasking or continuously using the camera.

Gaming

Gaming, both the phones handle it all quiet well. only while gaming, I could actually see them struggle but other than that, it’s all fine both the phones.

Camera Difference Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro
Camera, the biggest difference between the phone camera. first of all the phone 3 gets the same 50MP main sensor as last year, Nothing Phone 3a new 50MP 2X telephoto lens in exchange for a downgraded ultra wide camera. the front camera is still a 32MP one but it’s now a samsung sensor.

Nothing Phone 3a Pro, packs a newer 50MP main sensor, 60MP periscope lens with 3X optical zoom and a 50MP selfie camera as well the ultra wide lens is the same as the 3a.

Photo difference

Now, I clicked a lot of photos from both the phones, what surprised me the most is that the main camera of both the phones. take equally good photos even though they are different sensors and for the ultra wide camera too, I was expecting it to be bad.

One Major Issue

There’s one big issue, both the phones are meant to be camera phones but they are still stuck at 4k, 30fps. that’s not the problem of the cameras, that’s actually the processor Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 doesn’t support 4k, 60fps. again nothing Phone 3a, it’s still okay but 3a Pro , I think nothing should have gotten with a better Processor.

Software & Update

In terms of software, both the phones come with Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15 with the promise of 3 software updates and 4 years of security patch update.

Now, Nothing the phone are as clean as monica apartment so no bloat ware or ads.

Battery & Charging

Nothing threats both the phones equal, they both get a 5,000 mAh battery which is the same as you get on Nothing Phone 2a. the charging speeds have been uploaded a little. I was getting around 5 to 6 hours with light to medium usages, which is pretty much the same as I got on my 2a.

Connectivity

Connectivity, the phones get blutooth 5.4, wifi 6, Dual SIM and NFC support. there’s no ESIM support and no fast Type C port. 5G connectivity is good enough and I didn’t experience any issues with jio or Airtel.

Which one Should You Buy?

The Nothing Phone 3a is better value for money options then the Nothing Phone 3a Pro. I say this because 3a has the same performance same software experience similar design and build. same set of camera features plus the camera experience is also not too far from the 3a Pro.
